At Sacred Heart School/Sacre Coeur Coeur we are proud to promote academic excellence in a community of faith where the needs of the students are met in a safe and caring Catholic Environment.  We strive to see our students become well rounded citizens through growth and development spiritually, academically, physically and socially.  

We are proud to offer students from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 8 a wide range of programs and services to develop the whole child.  SHSC is a dual track school which offers instruction in both English and French Immersion.  We focus on providing the curriculum which integrates Christian values in all areas of instruction.  

As a school team we have adopted a collaborative team approach to develop programs, instill 21st century learning skills and instruct all of our students in a high quality learning environment.  We seek to ensure our students are competent in all areas to increase their confidence and desire to learn.

Christ is at the center of all that we do.  We support character development, Christian values and religious education in an environment based on gospel values and the spiritual journey of which we are all a part of.  Our policies reflect Christian values and we encourage our students to reflect on Christ’s teachings in all areas of their development.  With the guidance of the Holy Spirit, trust and mutual support we live our Catholic faith and bring life to our God given talents.  Our faith-based programs teach students they have the skills, talents and responsibility to reach out and make a difference in the world, and are able to transform it by their actions.

The construction of Sacred Heart School began in the fall of 1958 by Bird Construction.  At that time the building consisted of eight classrooms, an office, boiler room, washroom, library, and an assembly room. 

The first classes to attend Sacred Heart School began in May of 1959.  Mother Anysia was the Principal at the time of the school opening, continuing with Sister Louisa and Sister Hilda between 1959 and 1967.  

In 1985 interest was expressed within the community for French Immersion Education.  The School Board was approached and that year two teachers and one French Monitor were hired to deliver a program from Maternelle to Grade Two.  Over the years the French Immersion program has undergone many changes in curriculum developments, programs and cultural offerings at the elementary levels.

In 1991, a new addition was added to the school increasing the school size by four classrooms.  A new Kindergarten room, gymnasium, library, office area and band room were built as well as security system and air conditioning installed throughout the school.  Following this renovation Immaculate Heart Junior High was closed, and the incorporation of Grade 7 - 8 students into Sacred Heart School was completed.
